As Lead Pastor, Kevin is called to provide spiritual leadership and direction through teaching and preaching.
His prayer is not "Lord, help me prepare a message this week," but "Lord, prepare my heart to hear the message You have for me and others this week." Kevin's first priority is to seek God with his whole heart so he can lead others well with authenticity and integrity.
Kevin loves spending time with his family. He's been married for nearly 30 years and has 2 adult daughters. Kevin lives on a small hobby farm with horses, dogs and cats. Needlesss to say, he's rarely bored!

Mike manages the administration of the church. You might find him talking budget numbers with the Finance Team or figuring out how many cobs of corn it will take to feed everyone at our annual Block Party. Before Mike moved into his current role, he was Wayzata Free's Youth Pastor. He's worked at Wayzata Free for more than 15 years.
Mike and his wife met at Bethel University (back then, it was Bethel College). They have a son and a daughter and enjoy traveling and camping.

Joel brings over 10 years of experience as a worship leader, music director and ministry leader. Joel oversees the Worship Arts ministry, leads in worship gatherings and guides the the worship experience at Wayzata Free Church to be a reflection of our community and who we aspire to be.
Joel, his wife, Nicole, and two young children live in the Arts District in N.E. Minneapolis. He has an overdeveloped obsession with craft coffee. He also thoroughly enjoys cooking and biking. Joel has been on staff since February of 2012.

Kevin provides leadership and direction to Student Ministries and has been on staff at Wayzata Free for 8 years. He is also on the Family Ministry team, the Hospitality team and occasionally gives a Sunday morning message.
Kevin has been married to his camp sweetheart for more than 11 years. They have 3 beautiful girls. When away from church and family, Kevin may be found at Lifetime Fitness, enjoying the outdoors, or sitting across a table from someone enjoying appetizers.

As the Kids Pastor, Sara oversees all ministries related to kids from birth to 5th grade. She has worked at Wayzata Free for nearly 5 years and enjoys working with an amazing team of volunteers. In addition to directly leading the elementary ministries on Sundays and Wednesdays, she also teaches Bible studies, runs a student leadership team (club corps), organizes a number of summer camps and facilitates various family events throughout the school year. Sara loves spending time with people who are important to her—family and friends rank high in her priorities. She also hosts a pretty fab Academy Awards party...get to know her and you might snag an invite!

Brittany Johnson

Brittany has been a part of Wayzata Free Church since a young child and has been heavily involved in Children’s Ministry here for as long as she can remember. She has a passion for kids and loves watching them grow and develop. She works with the youngest in the church, birth-pre-K.
She is currently studying at Bethel University and is excited for what the future holds. She loves to write, spend time with friends and travel.

Bruce works with an incredible Middle School youth staff that seeks to disciple students. He has been a youth pastor for over 7 years and LOVES middle school. Bruce teaches Sunday School and leads Sunday Night Youth Group and other events and service opportunities.
Bruce is married and has two sets of twins. When he has the time, he enjoys working on and riding his motorcycle.

Trish facilitates the administrative aspects of all the Outreach activities at Wayzata Free and also assists with Connecting Ministries. She is passionate about reaching out to others locally and globally with the love of Jesus.
Trish and her husband have 2 adult children and 2 adorable grandchildren!

Andrea handles all elements of the Sunday service, except for the message and has been part of the Wayzata Free team for more than 3 years. Andrea also connects the worship team with other ministries.
Andrea has been married 28 years and has 3 adult children. When she isn’t with her family or at church, you might find Andrea in her garden or tending to the beautiful hostas she sells.

Beth is responsible for the counseling ministry. She also heads up the prayer ministry and leads an intercessory prayer group on Wednesday evenings. Beth leads a weekly Bible study at a nursing home along with a group of faithful volunteers from Wayzata Free.
Beth and her husband have 2 daughters, 2 wonderful sons-in-law and 3 delightful grandchildren.

Shelby grew up at Wayzata Free church and has been on staff for the past year and a half. She helps with office tasks, manages the church calendar and keeps the office running smoothly.
Shelby met her husband at Crown College. They have a beautiful young son. When she's not working, Shelby loves to bake and do anything "crafty".

Carroll helps people who are new to Wayzata Free feel welcome and get connected. He works with the spiritual development of adults and enjoys seeing lives transformed by scripture through study, small group interaction and accountably. Carroll has been part of the Wayzata team for almost 16 years.
Carroll has been married for 41 years and has 3 adult sons and 4 grandchildren. When Carroll is not at Wayzata Free, he often travels to Poland where he and his wife serve as part-time pastors to 41 missionaries and their kids with International Messengers.
Carroll enjoys travel, photography and anything to do with airplanes or flight simulators.

Dee is affectionately referred to as the church's first responder and social worker because she loves to connect people, resources, talents and passions. She is responsible for coordinating the church's caring intiatives.
Dee was actively involved in ministry at Wayzata Free before joining the staff.
Some things never change. Dee loved going on her kids' field trips in grade school. Now one of the best parts of her job is taking our seniors on outings.
She and her husband have 3 adult children and 1 wonderful daughter-in-law, all living in Chicago. When she isn't working, chances are you'll find her on a road trip to see her kids!


Devon handles the day to day maintenance of the facility and gets the rooms ready for ministries, classes, staff and outside groups. Devon aims to rovide a clean and pleasant environment so people can experience God.
Devon and his wife have 4 adult children. When he isn't working in the church building, Devon loves to vacation with his wife and play golf with his friends.
